Food Review: Crab Roll @ Junk Café
If you’re like us and love anything crustacean then you will go absolutely bezerk over Junk Café’s new limited menu offering – the Crab Roll (RM25/USD6.30).
A highly seasonal offering and only available on Fridays, Junk’s Crab Roll is something we have become hopelessly addicted to.
Imagine freshly boiled and peeled flower crab meat lightly tossed in butter, sprinkled with pepper and stuffed into a toasted brioche roll and brought to you on a plate.
This is completely different to other seafood rolls you will find in Penang as the roll really is rammed 100% full of crab meat and nothing else – no filler, all killer.
The crab is ridiculously fresh as owner Shen buys them directly from fisherman in the morning and spends the whole morning boiling/peeling the crabs.
The butter really enhances the flower crab’s flavor and gives the roll a wonderful fragrance that draws you in as you bite into succulent and juicy crab meat.
We can’t say much else except eat this as much as you can while they still offer this!
